I have a strategy that you might like to consider: I call it my Rule of Thirds. I use it for several things, like money that falls in my lap, or situations like yours now. If your nature is to plan, then not doing so will just offer endless frustration. So, plan – a third of it. There are going to be specific things you will NOT want to miss in certain places, so absolutely plan those, but then add a third of spontaneity wrapped around that. Long-term plan a third (which you’ve probably already done, like, which countries when)… or maybe a bit less on the last one and a bit heavier on the spontaneity, but you get the idea. If you suppress your natural urges, you’ll end up unhappy, and also end up missing some things that can ONLY be done by planning ahead (for instance, ask me some day about the island I could NOT get to, even as I looked at it across the lagoon…:-)

I think this is an excellent idea. This week we have actually started making some plans, booked our next fights and are looking at what we want to see there, and I feel calmer already 😉 Xx
