The hunt for the perfect club…
Sandwich of course. I was reading today about some bloke who has tried McDonalds all over the world, it’s his go to meal everywhere he goes; apparently Thailand has the best. Which (making no judgement on his choice of international cuisine) got me to thinking if there was anything I liked to try everywhere, and indeed there is.
Don’t get me wrong, i’m a side of the road, meat on a stick, try anything eater. Tried jack fruit for the first time a few days ago, loved it and now can’t wait to get my teeth stuck into some stinky durian next. I love a tasty bargain and local food is always one. I do however also love a club sandwich, the texture, the taste, all that yummy goodness squished into one delicious toasted white bread sandwich.
I’ve had club sandwiches all over the world from Cap Ferrat to Singapore, from silly expensive ones to cheap as chips. The best so far was at the Affinia Hotel in New York, great ingredients, crisp fries, brought to your room which probably made it oh so much tastier. (Although to this day the best thing I ever ate was a fresh Yangs Fry dumpling from the food street in Shanghai, steaming hot, dripping deliciousness). Anyhoo… i’m trying the Weekenders on Samui’s version tonight. I tend to judge overseas ones less harshly due to unavailabilityof ingredients which may be biased but they have a great English breakfast here so no concessions will be given 😜
