Social Media Madness

n.b. This post will make no sense to those of you not on twitter and who lead normal lives far away from the madness that social media can be, maybe go make yourself a cup of tea and read the paper instead Xx

For those of you who are… I’ve long had a lovely (for me anyway) twitter account @Tinkerbell_ successful if you judge success by the level of enjoyment I derive from it, which is a lot. I follow all sorts of wonderful, inspiring, sassy, snarky and interesting people.

Not wanting to presume everyone who followed me @Tinkerbell_ would be interested I started the @TinksTravels twitter account as a link to this blog and my website and somewhere for me to tweet my travel related anecdotes, thoughts and musings. I want to follow funny and or interesting people who do the same and who also happened to have travel blogs that I find interesting and will be useful sources for our travels.

Sadly what I have found is a circle jerk of travel blogging accounts who only seem to post links to their blogs and MANUALLY RETWEET (The horror) tweets containing the links to other peoples blogs. Or even worse links to old post they wrote that they clearly feel didn’t get enough attention the first time round.

Sheesh! what’s the point in that?

I can follow your blog through wordpress thanks anyway.

Worse still, they all only seem to follow each other creating this machine of boring tweets being recycled endlessly ARGH!! They all have the same utterly impersonal ‘Thanks for Following , come Like my Facebook Page’ DM sent out the second you follow them and OH MY LORD ARE THEY ALL BOTS? and if you do this and are not a bot just know everyone thinks you are.

I know there must be a world of wonderful bloggers out there who are not bots and who do actually tweet and do not simply post links to their blogs and manually retweet (there is an actual retweet button you know) other peoples but I have yet to find more than a handful of them.

Now yes in the grand scheme of things this really is not the end of the world and Yeah yeah I know, everyone can do what they wish with their account, I fully support that. And in point of fact I’m not telling anyone what they can or can’t do, just moaning that I can’t find the people doing what I am looking for, even though I know they exist.

So if you know a travel blogger who also tweets their actual thoughts, anecdotes and experiences maybe you would be kind enough to point me in their direction, much obliged Xx
